India's BSE Sensex closed about 0.2% down at 81,785.7 on Monday, following gains in the previous five sessions, mainly due to profit-booking in IT and auto shares after a recent rally.
Meanwhile, investors turned cautious ahead of the US Federal Reserve’s policy decision later this week, while awaiting any developments on US-India trade relations.
Among Sensex firms, Asian Paints, Mahindra & Mahindra, Infosys, Titan, Sun Pharma, Tata Consultancy Services, Tech Mahindra and Power Grid were the major laggards, shedding up to 1.7%.
On the upside, Bajaj Finance, Eternal, UltraTech Cement and Reliance Industries posted the biggest gains, adding between 0.3% and 0.8%.
