Finnish Economic Growth Slows in January

Finland’s gross domestic product expanded by 1.3% year-on-year in March 2026, following an upwardly revised 2.2% growth in the previous month.

This marked the second consecutive month of growth in the Finnish economy, albeit at a softer pace.

On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, the economy contracted by 0.7% in March from an upwardly revised 0.3% decline in the preceding period.

This marked the third consecutive month of growth in the economy but the softest pace since May last year. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, the economy contracted by 1.6% in February, the sharpest since February 2025 and reversing a 1.3% growth in the preceding period.

Finland’s gross domestic product inched up 0.2% year-on-year in January 2026, moderating from an upwardly revised growth of 1.5% recorded in the previous month, marking the second consecutive month of growth, albeit at a slower pace. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, the economy expanded 1.1% in January, rebounding from a downwardly revised 0.4% contraction in the preceding period.
