Finland GDP Growth Rate at 1.20 percent  
The Finnish gross domestic product grew by 1.2 percent on quarter in the three months to March of 2018, following an upwardly revised 0.9 percent expansion in the previous period and higher than a preliminary estimate of 1.1 percent expansion. It is the strongest growth since the fourth quarter 2010, as fixed investment rose sharply (3.7 percent vs 0.6 percent in Q4), government spending rebounded (1.4 percent vs -1.2 percent) while household consumption went up by 0.9 percent (from 0.7 percent in Q4). On the other hand, net external demand contributed negatively to GDP growth, as exports fell 1.1 percent (vs 2.3 percent in Q4) and imports dropped at a slower 0.5 percent (vs 1.4 percent). On a yearly basis, the economy grew by 3.1 percent, following a downwardly revised 2.7 percent expansion in the fourth quarter.

The Finnish producer price inflation rose to 3.3 percent year-on-year in April 2018 from 3.1 percent in the previous month. It is the highest producer inflation since July 2017, as the producer prices of export products went up more than in a month earlier (4.2 percent vs 3.8 percent in March) while producer prices for manufactured products sold on the domestic market continued to rise (2.5 percent vs 2.6 percent). Among sectors, the biggest upward pressure came from higher prices of pulp, paper and paper board and cardboard, oil products and chemical products. On a monthly basis, producer prices increased by 0.4 percent.
