In contrast, prices fell for: transport (-0.3 percent vs 0.6 percent); miscellaneous goods and services (-0.5 percent vs 0.5 percent); and furnishings and household equipment (-1.5 percent vs -1.3 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell 0.3 percent after showing no growth in December.

Finnish's current account deficit narrowed to EUR 67 million in December 2017, from EUR 162 million in the same month of the previous year. The services gap declined to EUR 149 million from EUR 222 million a year earlier and the secondary income deficit fell to EUR 144 million from EUR 199 million. In addition, the goods balance recorded a surplus of EUR 26 million, swinging from EUR 297 million deficit in December 2016. Meantime, the primary income surplus dropped to EUR 204 million from EUR 555 million. Considering full 2017, the current account posted a EUR 1.496 million surplus, compared with a EUR 2.985 million deficit in the same period of 2016.

Finland GDP Growth Rate at 1.10 percent  
The Finnish gross domestic product grew by 1.1 percent on quarter in the three months to December of 2017, following a 0.4 percent expansion in the previous period, the preliminary estimate showed. It was the strongest growth rate since the first quarter of 2017. Compared with the same quarter last year, the economy expanded 3.9 percent, accelerating from a 3 percent advance in the previous three-month period. GDP is expected to have grown by around 3 percent in 2017 as a whole, recovering from a decade-long stagnation.
