Finland Inflation Rate at 1.50 percent  
Finland's annual inflation rate increased to 1.5 percent in October 2018 from 1.3 percent the previous month. It was the highest inflation rate since March 2016, when prices showed no growth. Prices rose faster for both housing & utilities (2.1 percent vs 1.7 percent in September) and transport (2.3 percent vs 1.5 percent) while furnishings & household equipment prices rebounded (0.3 percent vs -0.3 percent). Meantime, prices went up at a softer pace for food & non-alcoholic beverages (2.6 percent vs 2.8 percent) and restaurants and hotels (1.8 percent vs 2.1 percent). On the other hand, prices fell for recreation and culture (-0.1 percent vs 0.1 percent) while prices continued to decline for miscellaneous goods & services (-0.1 percent, the same pace as in the prior month). On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up 0.2 percent, the same pace as in September.

The Finnish gross domestic product grew by 0.3 percent on quarter in the three months to September of 2018, the same pace as in the previous period, a preliminary estimate showed. It remained the weakest growth rate since the third quarter 2017. On a yearly basis, the economy grew by 2.2 percent, following a 2.5 percent expansion in the second quarter.

Considering the first nine months of the year, the trade gap slightly narrowed to EUR 1.9 billion from EUR 2.0 billion in the same period of 2017.

The Finnish producer price inflation eased to 5.9 percent year-on-year in September 2018 from 6.2 percent in the previous month. It is the lowest increase since May, as producer prices for manufactured products sold on the domestic market rose slower (4.7 percent vs 5 percent in August) and those of export products also increased at a slower pace (7.2 percent vs 7.6 percent).
