Finnish Economic Activity Shrinks 0.3% in December

Finland’s gross domestic product inched up 0.2% year-on-year in January 2026, moderating from an upwardly revised growth of 1.5% recorded in the previous month, marking the second consecutive month of growth, albeit at a slower pace. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, the economy expanded 1.1% in January, rebounding from a downwardly revised 0.4% contraction in the preceding period.

Finland’s gross domestic product contracted by 0.3% year-on-year in December 2025, reversing a 0.3% expansion in the previous month. This marked the sixth month of contraction in the economy in 2025. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, GDP shrank by 1.2% in December, following a downwardly revised 0.4% growth in the preceding period.

Finland’s gross domestic product grew by 0.3% year-on-year in November 2025, recovering from an upwardly revised 1.8% contraction in the previous month. This marked the first month of growth in the economy since June. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, the GDP expanded by 1.3% in November, rebounding from a revised 0.3% decline in the preceding period.
