Danish Current Account Surplus Widens in March

Denmark’s seasonally adjusted current account surplus widened to DKK 38.3 billion in March 2026 from an upwardly revised DKK 29.3 billion in the previous month, marking the largest increase since December 2025.

The goods account surplus expanded to DKK 31.9 billion from DKK 26.3 billion, as exports rose more than imports, at 8.1% and 3.7% respectively.

The primary income surplus also increased to DKK 7 billion from DKK 6.7 billion, while the services account rose to DKK 1.9 billion, shifting to a surplus from a deficit of DKK 1.2 billion.

At the same time, the secondary income deficit narrowed to DKK 0.2 billion from DKK 0.3 billion in February.

Denmark’s seasonally adjusted current account surplus narrowed to DKK 25.1 billion in February 2026 from a downwardly revised DKK 33.0 billion in the previous month, marking its lowest level since May 2025. The goods account surplus declined to DKK 24.8 billion from DKK 27.2 billion in January, pressured by a 3.1% drop in exports. The primary income surplus also eased to DKK 5.9 billion from DKK 6.2 billion. At the same time, the services account shifted from a DKK 2.2 billion surplus in January to a deficit of DKK 2.5 billion in February, while the secondary income deficit remained unchanged at DKK 0.6 billion.

Danish Current Account Narrows in January
Denmark’s seasonally adjusted current account surplus narrowed to DKK 35.4 billion in January 2026 from a downwardly revised DKK 39.7 billion in the previous month. The goods account surplus decreased to DKK 26.8 billion from DKK 31.8 billion, weighed down by a 6.5% drop in exports. At the same time, the primary income surplus shrank to DKK 6.9 billion to DKK 8 billion in December 2025. In contrast, the services account surplus widened to DKK 4.4 billion from DKK 3.4 billion, while the secondary income deficit also narrowed, declining to DKK 0.6 billion from DKK 1.5 billion.
