Denmark Current Account Surplus Highest in 7 Months

Denmark’s seasonally adjusted current account surplus edged up to DKK 37.5 billion in April 2026 from a downwardly revised DKK 37.4 billion in the previous month.

This marked the largest surplus since September 2025, as the services account surplus widened to DKK 2.2 billion from DKK 0.5 billion.

Meanwhile, the goods account surplus narrowed to DKK 30.6 billion from DKK 30.9 billion, weighed down by declines in both exports and imports of 1.5% and 1.7%, respectively.

At the same time, the primary income surplus eased to DKK 7.3 billion from DKK 8.3 billion, while the secondary income deficit widened to DKK 0.6 billion from DKK 0.2 billion in March.

Denmark’s seasonally adjusted current account surplus rose to DKK 30.7 billion in May 2026, easing from a downwardly revised DKK 32.5 billion in the previous month. This marked the smallest surplus in three months, as the goods account surplus narrowed to DKK 24.8 billion from DKK 31.3 billion, weighed down by a 2.4% decline in exports while imports increased 5.7%. Additionally, the primary income surplus moderated to DKK 4.1 billion from DKK 5.9 billion in April. Meanwhile, the services account shifted to a DKK 4.1 billion surplus from a DKK 2.1 billion deficit, while the secondary income deficit shrank to DKK 2.2 billion from DKK 2.6 billion.

Denmark’s seasonally adjusted current account surplus widened to DKK 38.3 billion in March 2026 from an upwardly revised DKK 29.3 billion in the previous month, marking the largest increase since December 2025. The goods account surplus expanded to DKK 31.9 billion from DKK 26.3 billion, as exports rose more than imports, at 8.1% and 3.7% respectively. The primary income surplus also increased to DKK 7 billion from DKK 6.7 billion, while the services account rose to DKK 1.9 billion, shifting to a surplus from a deficit of DKK 1.2 billion. At the same time, the secondary income deficit narrowed to DKK 0.2 billion from DKK 0.3 billion in February.
