In contrast, inflation eased for food and non-alcoholic beverages (2 percent vs 2.4 percent) and housing and utilities (1.2 percent vs 1.6 percent) and prices fell further for clothing and footwear (-0.7 percent vs -0.6 percent). On a monthly basis, consumer prices edged up 0.2 percent, following a 0.1 percent gain in March.

In the first quarter of the year, the trade surplus widened to DKK 18.8 billion from DKK 13.0 billion in the same period of 2016.
