Danish Current Account Surplus Smallest in 9 Months

Denmark’s seasonally adjusted current account surplus narrowed to DKK 25.1 billion in February 2026 from a downwardly revised DKK 33.0 billion in the previous month, marking its lowest level since May 2025.

The goods account surplus declined to DKK 24.8 billion from DKK 27.2 billion in January, pressured by a 3.1% drop in exports.

The primary income surplus also eased to DKK 5.9 billion from DKK 6.2 billion.

At the same time, the services account shifted from a DKK 2.2 billion surplus in January to a deficit of DKK 2.5 billion in February, while the secondary income deficit remained unchanged at DKK 0.6 billion.

Denmark’s seasonally adjusted current account surplus narrowed to DKK 35.4 billion in January 2026 from a downwardly revised DKK 39.7 billion in the previous month. The goods account surplus decreased to DKK 26.8 billion from DKK 31.8 billion, weighed down by a 6.5% drop in exports. At the same time, the primary income surplus shrank to DKK 6.9 billion to DKK 8 billion in December 2025. In contrast, the services account surplus widened to DKK 4.4 billion from DKK 3.4 billion, while the secondary income deficit also narrowed, declining to DKK 0.6 billion from DKK 1.5 billion.

Danish Current Account Surplus Hits Record High
Denmark’s seasonally adjusted current account surplus widened to DKK 40 billion in December 2025 from an upwardly revised DKK 35.8 billion in November. This marked the largest surplus on record, as the goods account surplus increased to DKK 33.2 billion from DKK 30.7 billion, supported by a 2.8% rise in exports. At the same time, the services account surplus expanded to DKK 2.1 billion from DKK 0.9 billion, while the primary income surplus grew to DKK 8.1 billion from DKK 7.4 billion. Meanwhile, the secondary income deficit widened slightly to DKK 3.4 billion from DKK 3.2 billion. For the full year, Denmark posted a current account surplus of DKK 390.6 billion, up from DKK 356.9 billion in the corresponding period last year.
