Denmark’s consumer confidence fell to -13.7 in September 2026 from -13.1 in August, but remained above the six-month average of -15.7.
The slight decline reflected consumers’ more unfavorable assessments of their financial situation over the past 12 months (-8.6 vs -7.6 in August), while expectations for household finances over the next year deteriorated (-3.7 vs 0.4).
Meanwhile, perceptions of the country’s current economic conditions were slightly less negative (-22.5 vs -22.7), alongside expectations for Denmark’s economy in the year ahead (-19.2 vs -20.6).
Consumers’ willingness to make major purchases was also less pessimistic (-14.3 vs -14.9).
Among components not included in the overall confidence indicator, perceptions of current price growth eased (28.0 vs 29.9), while inflation expectations for the next 12 months rose (31.9 vs 30.5).
Concerns about unemployment also intensified (19.2 vs 15.8), with households continuing to expect rising joblessness over the next 12 months.
