The annual inflation rate in the Czech Republic rose to 2.5% in September 2026 from 1.9% in the previous month, confirming preliminary estimates.
This marked the highest reading since April, driven by an acceleration in transport costs (13.2% vs. 9.6% in August), with fuel and lubricant prices surging by 37.5% year-on-year, and a moderation in the deflation of food and non-alcoholic beverages (-3.5% vs. -4.3%).
Prices also rose faster for housing and utilities (1.7% vs. 1.5%), recreation and culture (2.5% vs. 0.4%), personal care, social protection, and miscellaneous goods and services (4.0% vs. 3.8%), information and communication (2.9% vs. 2.0%), and education (4.7% vs. 4.0%).
Meanwhile, inflation eased for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (4.6% vs. 4.7%), health (3.8% vs. 4.2%), and restaurants and accommodation services (4.2% vs. 4.3%).
On a monthly basis, consumer prices were unchanged in September, down from a 0.3% increase in August.
