Czech Republic Inflation Confirmed at 3-Month High

The annual inflation rate in the Czech Republic rose to 1.9% in August 2026, confirming preliminary estimates and up from 1.7% in July.
The latest reading also marked the highest inflation rate since May, mainly driven by faster price growth in transport, which accelerated to 9.6% from 6.6% in July.
Within the category, fuels and lubricants surged 26.2% year-on-year (vs 16.8%), with average diesel prices reaching their highest level since October 2022.
Housing inflation also remained elevated at 5.4%, with rents rising 6.1% and prices for materials and services for minor repairs and maintenance increasing 5.4%.
Meanwhile, food and non-alcoholic beverages recorded deeper deflation, with prices falling 4.3% after a 3.1% decline in the previous month.
Additionally, electricity prices fell 11.2% and natural gas 4.8%.
On a monthly basis, consumer prices grew by 0.3% in August, easing from a 0.6% gain in the preceding period.
