Czech Industrial Output at 3-Month Low

Industrial production in the Czech Republic increased 2.6% year-on-year in August 2026, below market expectations and the previous month's 3.1% growth.

It marked the lowest level since May, as output growth in the electricity, gas, steam and air-conditioning supply sector eased sharply to 2.0% from 10.8% in July.

Meanwhile, manufacturing activity edged up to 2.7% from 2.6%, supported by stronger production of wood and wood products (4.4% vs 2.0%) and paper and paper products (8.1% vs 0.6%).

At the same time, the contraction in mining and quarrying eased significantly (-0.1% vs -11.9%).

On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial output rose 0.3% in August, rebounding from a 1.1% decline in the previous month.

Industrial production in the Czech Republic rose 3.1% year-on-year in July 2026, slowing from a downwardly revised six-month high of 3.8% in the previous month. The moderation was driven by a sharp decline in mining and quarrying output (-11.9% vs 0.8% in June) and a slower expansion in electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply (10.8% vs 25.1%). Meanwhile, manufacturing output edged up to 2.6% from 2.5% in June, supported by rebounds in textiles (5.7% vs -2.9%), wood and wood products excluding furniture (2.0% vs -8.1%), and printing and reproduction of recorded media (7.2% vs -4.9%). On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial output fell 1.1% in July, reversing an upwardly revised 1.4% gain in the previous month. For the first seven months of 2026, industrial production was up 2.0% from the same period a year earlier.

Czech Industrial Output Hits Six-Month High
Industrial production in the Czech Republic grew 4.0% year-on-year in June 2026, accelerating from a revised 2.0% increase in the previous month and marking the strongest annual growth since December 2025. The sharpest increase was recorded in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, which surged 25.1% after a 2.1% rise in May. Manufacturing output also strengthened (2.6% vs 2.2%), supported by higher production of computer, electronic and optical products (16.7% vs 11.0%), repair and installation of machinery and equipment (8.1% vs -6.3%), paper and paper products (4.5% vs 2.4%), and food products (4.3% vs 2.9%). Meanwhile, mining and quarrying rebounded 1.1% after contracting 8.3% in May. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial production rose 1.2% in June, rebounding from a 0.4% decline in the previous month.
