Czech Industrial Output Hits Six-Month High

Industrial production in the Czech Republic grew 4.0% year-on-year in June 2026, accelerating from a revised 2.0% increase in the previous month and marking the strongest annual growth since December 2025. The sharpest increase was recorded in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply, which surged 25.1% after a 2.1% rise in May. Manufacturing output also strengthened (2.6% vs 2.2%), supported by higher production of computer, electronic and optical products (16.7% vs. 11.0%), repair and installation of machinery and equipment (8.1% vs. -6.3%), paper and paper products (4.5% vs. 2.4%), and food products (4.3% vs. 2.9%). Meanwhile, mining and quarrying rebounded 1.1% after contracting 8.3% in May. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, industrial production rose 1.2% in June, rebounding from a 0.4% decline in the previous month.

Manufacturing output accelerated (2.2% vs 1.8% in April), supported by a sharp increase in the manufacture of leather and related products (38.4% vs 1.2%). Other key contributors included the manufacture of wearing apparel (14.7% vs 0.2%), basic pharmaceutical products and preparations (6.0% vs -8.9%), and computer, electronic and optical products (16.7% vs 11.0%). Electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply rose further 2.1% from a 0.9% increase in April. Meanwhile, mining and quarrying output continued to contract, though the decline eased to 8.3% from 12.9% in the previous month. On a monthly basis, industrial production fell 0.4% in May 2026, reversing a 1.4% increase in the previous month.

Industrial production in the Czech Republic grew 1.5% year-on-year in April 2026, the biggest gain in three months, following a 0.9% rise in the previous month. Manufacturing growth picked up (1.8% vs 1.6% in March), driven primarily by a sharp increase in the manufacture of computer, electronic, and optical products (11.0% vs 5.2%). Other key contributors included the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products (7.6% vs 6.8%) and other non-metallic mineral products (4.0% vs 1.3%), particularly those used in construction. Additionally, electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply rose 0.9%, rebounding from a 4.9% decline in March. In contrast, mining and quarrying output fell at a sharper pace, declining 12.9% compared with a 2.0% drop a month earlier. On a monthly basis, industrial production increased 1.4% in April, after falling 0.1% in March.
