The consumer confidence indicator in the Czech Republic rose to 105.1 in September 2026 from 102.3 in August, marking the first improvement after two consecutive monthly declines.

The increase was driven by a more positive economic outlook, with the share of consumers expecting the overall economic situation to deteriorate over the next 12 months decreasing month-on-month.

Sentiment toward household finances also strengthened slightly, with expectations for an improvement over the next 12 months edging higher.

Meanwhile, assessments of households’ current financial situation were broadly unchanged from August, while the share of consumers postponing major purchases over the next year declined marginally.

Additionally, the share of respondents assessing their current financial situation as worse than a year earlier edged higher, while expectations for an improvement in household finances over the next 12 months remained unchanged. The number of households not planning to make major purchases over the next 12 months also rose, while concerns about rising prices intensified. Meanwhile, worries about further increases in unemployment were broadly unchanged from July. Despite the monthly decline, consumer confidence remained higher than its level a year earlier.

The share of respondents not planning to make major purchases over the next 12 months remained unchanged.
