The consumer confidence indicator in the Czech Republic dropped to 102.3 in August 2026 from 105.6 in the previous month, marking the lowest reading since August 2025.
The decline was driven by a weaker economic outlook, with expectations for the overall economic situation over the next 12 months deteriorating for the second consecutive month.
Additionally, the share of respondents assessing their current financial situation as worse than a year earlier edged higher, while expectations for an improvement in household finances over the next 12 months remained unchanged.
The number of households not planning to make major purchases over the next 12 months also rose, while concerns about rising prices intensified.
Meanwhile, worries about further increases in unemployment were broadly unchanged from July.
Despite the monthly decline, consumer confidence remained higher than its level a year earlier.
