The consumer confidence indicator in the Czech Republic fell to 106 in April 2026 from 110.4 in the previous month, marking the lowest level since September 2025.

The share of consumers expecting the country’s economic situation to worsen over the next twelve months increased notably.

At the same time, perceptions of current financial conditions compared to a year earlier were broadly unchanged.

On a monthly basis, households' expectations about improvements in their financial situation over the coming year declined.

Meanwhile, the proportion of respondents not planning major purchases in the next twelve months remained largely stable.

The uptick was supported by a continued decline in the number of consumers anticipating a worsening economic outlook over the coming year, alongside a slight reduction in those reporting a deterioration in their current financial conditions compared to the past twelve months. Expectations for personal finances remained broadly stable, with little change in the share of households anticipating improvement. Meanwhile, fewer respondents indicated reluctance to undertake large purchases in the year ahead, suggesting a modest strengthening in spending intentions.
