OPEC+ will pause oil output increases during the first quarter of next year, following a modest 137,000 barrels-per-day hike next month.
This mirrors similar increases in October and November.
The decision, made during a Sunday video conference led by Saudi Arabia, reflects expectations of a seasonal demand slowdown.
“The first quarter is normally a period of weaker demand,” delegates noted, marking the group’s first pause since its rapid supply restoration began in April.
The move aims to balance market share ambitions with signs of a growing surplus.
Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman is also set to visit Washington later this month to meet President Donald Trump, who has repeatedly urged OPEC to help lower fuel prices.
