Baltic Dry Index Rises for 3rd Day

The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk freight index, which monitors rates for ships carrying dry bulk commodities, advanced for the third session on Monday, rising about 0.5% to a fresh high since June 5 at 2,960 points.
The capesize index, which typically transports 150,000-ton cargoes including iron ore and coal, also increased for the third day, rising by 1% to its highest in over a month at 4,702 points; and the supramax index went up by 0.1% to its highest since June 22 at 1,707 points.
Meanwhile, the panamax index, which tracks vessels carrying around 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, fell by 0.1% to 2,250 points.
