Baltic Dry Index Rises for 3rd Day

The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk freight index, which monitors rates for ships carrying dry bulk commodities, advanced for the third session on Monday, rising about 0.5% to a fresh high since June 5 at 2,960 points.

The capesize index, which typically transports 150,000-ton cargoes including iron ore and coal, also increased for the third day, rising by 1% to its highest in over a month at 4,702 points; and the supramax index went up by 0.1% to its highest since June 22 at 1,707 points.

Meanwhile, the panamax index, which tracks vessels carrying around 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, fell by 0.1% to 2,250 points.

The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk freight index, which monitors rates for ships carrying dry bulk commodities, was up for the second session on Friday, rising about 1.2% to its highest since June 5 at 2,944 points. The capesize index, which typically transports 150,000-ton cargoes including iron ore and coal, also advanced for the second day, rising 1.9% to 4,655 points; and the panamax index, which tracks vessels carrying around 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, was little changed at 2,253 points. Among smaller vessels, the supramax index increased by 0.4% to 1,706 points. The benchmark index rose about 8.4% for the week.

The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk freight index, which monitors rates for ships carrying dry bulk commodities, rose about 1.4% to its highest since June 8 at 2,910 on Thursday, following a marginal decrease in the prior session. The capesize index, which typically transports 150,000-ton cargoes including iron ore and coal, advanced 2% to a one-month peak of 4,569 points; and the panamax index, which tracks vessels carrying around 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, rose 0.4% to 2,253 points. Among smaller vessels, the supramax index went up 0.8% to 1,700 points.
