Baltic Dry Index Down for 2nd Day

The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk freight index, which monitors rates for ships carrying dry bulk commodities, eased for a second session on Tuesday, falling about 1.8% to 2,670 points, weighed down by the larger vessel segments.

The capesize index, which typically transports 150,000-ton cargoes including iron ore and coal, dropped about 3.5% to 3,911 points; and the panamax index, which tracks vessels carrying around 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, fell by 1.1% to 2,266 points.

On the other hand, the supramax index increased by 1.3% to 1,685 points.

Baltic Dry Index Falls to Over 6-Week Low
The Baltic Exchange dry bulk freight index decreased 0.3% to 2720 on Monday, the lowest since April 30. The capesize index, which typically transport 150,000-ton cargoes including iron ore and coal, fell 1.3% to 4053. On the other hand, the panamax index, which usually carry 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, increased 0.4% to 2291. The supramax index rose 1.3% to 1664.

Baltic Dry Index Holds Steady at Over 1-Month Low
The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk freight index, which monitors rates for ships carrying dry bulk commodities, remained steady at 2,729 points on Friday, the lowest level since May 1st, after ten consecutive sessions of decreases. The capesize index, which typically transports 150,000-ton cargoes including iron ore and coal, fell by 0.8% to 4,107 points. Meanwhile, the panamax index, which tracks vessels carrying around 60,000 to 70,000 tons of coal or grain, rose by 1.4% to 2,283 points; and the supramax index went up 0.6% to 1,642 points. The benchmark index slipped about 8.5% for the week.
