Baltic Dry Index at Near 2-Week Low

The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk index, which tracks rates for vessels transporting dry commodities, was down for a fourth session on Tuesday, sliding about 5.1% to its lowest since November 27 at 2,557 points.
The capesize index, which typically transports 150,000-ton cargoes such as iron ore and coal, also decreased for a fourth day, slipping about 7.6% to a one-week low of 4,631 points; and the panamax index, which usually carries 60,000-70,000 tons of coal or grain, fell for the ninth day, decreasing by 1.5% to its lowest since October 10 at 1,786 points.
Among smaller vessels, the supramax index eased 11 points to 1,419 points.
