The Baltic Exchange’s dry bulk index, which tracks rates for vessels transporting dry commodities, snapped a two-day losing streak on Tuesday, rising about 0.7% to 1,958 points, buoyed by the bigger-size segment.
The capesize index, which typically transports 150,000-ton cargoes such as iron ore and coal, halted a two-day losing run, climbing 2% to 2,947 points.
Meanwhile, the panamax index, which usually carries 60,000-70,000 tons of coal or grain, fell 0.7% to 1,788 points, marking the seventh consecutive session of decreases.
The smaller supramax index went down by 0.7% to 1,311 points.
