The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk sea freight index, which tracks rates for vessels transporting dry commodities, eased for a second session on Monday, down 31 points to a near one-week low of 2,172, amid lower rates across all vessels.
The capesize index, which typically transports 150,000-ton cargoes such as iron ore and coal, dropped by 2.1% to 3,365 points, after six consecutive sessions of advances; and the panamax index, which usually carries 60,000-70,000 tons of coal or grain, fell 1.3% to its lowest since September 5 at 1,822 points.
Among smaller vessels, the supramax index shed 3 points at 1,486 points.
