Colombia Import Growth Slows in May

Colombia's imports rose 10.6% year-on-year to $6.79 billion in May 2026 after increasing 15.8% in April.
The increase was mainly driven by an 8.2% rise in manufactured imports, led by higher purchases of machinery and transport equipment (15.1%) and chemicals and related products (5.4%).
Imports of agricultural products, food, and beverages rose 2.7%, supported by a 3.3% increase in purchases of food products and live animals.
Imports of fuels and extractive industry products climbed 35.2%, driven mainly by a 29.7% increase in purchases of petroleum, petroleum products, and related goods.
