Colombia Imports Rise at Fastest Pace Since 2022

Colombia’s imports rose 27% year-on-year to $6.78 billion in June 2026, marking the strongest growth since August 2022, following a 10.2% increase in May.

The rise was driven by higher purchases of fuels and extractive industry products, which increased 67.2%, led by a 68.5% surge in petroleum and related products.

Imports of manufactured goods also rose 23.1%, supported by stronger purchases of machinery and transport equipment (33.6%) and chemical products (21.6%).

Meanwhile, agricultural imports increased 23.4%, mainly due to a 29.3% rise in purchases of food products and live animals.

Colombia's imports increased 22.9% year-on-year to $7.97 billion in July 2026 following a 27% rise in June. Manufacturing imports rose 16.1%, driven by higher purchases of machinery and transport equipment (24%) and chemicals and related products (11%). Agriculture, food and beverages purchases grew 26.3%, mainly due to higher imports of food products and live animals (27.2%). Imports of fuels and extractive industry products surged 77.3%, driven by higher purchases of petroleum, petroleum products and related products (79.6%).

Colombia Import Growth Slows in May
Colombia's imports rose 10.6% year-on-year to $6.79 billion in May 2026 after increasing 15.8% in April. The increase was mainly driven by an 8.2% rise in manufactured imports, led by higher purchases of machinery and transport equipment (15.1%) and chemicals and related products (5.4%). Imports of agricultural products, food, and beverages rose 2.7%, supported by a 3.3% increase in purchases of food products and live animals. Imports of fuels and extractive industry products climbed 35.2%, driven mainly by a 29.7% increase in purchases of petroleum, petroleum products, and related goods.
