Argentina Consumer Confidence Hits Nine-Month Low

Argentina’s consumer confidence dropped to 40 in April 2026, marking its lowest level since September 2025 and a 5.7% decrease from March.

All sub-indices recorded negative monthly variations, with the sharpest decline in Durable Goods and Real Estate (-9.51%), followed by Macroeconomic Situation (-4.30%) and Personal Situation (-3.96%).

Both Present Conditions (-9.03%) and Future Expectations (-3.30%) fell.

Declines were seen across all income levels, most severely among low-income households (-12.60%) compared to high-income households (-1.80%).

Regionally, the Interior saw the steepest drop (-10.57%), followed by CABA (-6.69%) and GBA (-1.53%).

On a year-on-year basis, the index fell 10.12%.

Argentina’s consumer confidence dropped to 42.03 in March 2026, marking its lowest level since October 2025 and a 5.3% decline from February’s 44.38. The drop was broad-based, with current conditions decreasing by 6.48% and future expectations by 4.45%. Regionally, Greater Buenos Aires saw the steepest decline (-9.35%), followed by the City of Buenos Aires falling (-6.99%), while the rest of the country recorded a modest increase of 1.26%. Confidence weakened across income groups, declining 6.91% among low-income households and 4.71% among high-income households. Among sub-indices, the sharpest decline was in the personal situation index (-8.23%), followed by durable goods and real estate (-4.58%) and the macroeconomic situation (-3.26%). On a year-on-year basis, consumer confidence declined 4.73%.

Argentina’s Consumer Confidence Index fell 4.7% month-on-month to 44 in February 2026, marking its weakest level since October 2025. All subcomponents posted declines, led by Personal Situation (-7.62%) and Macroeconomic Situation (-5.37%), while Durable Goods and Real Estate was broadly stable (-0.02%). By income, confidence dropped across both segments, with a sharper fall among high-income households (-5.24%) than lower-income households (-2.28%). Regionally, declines were widespread, led by Ciudad Autónoma de Buenos Aires (-7.77%) and Gran Buenos Aires (-5.35%), while the Interior recorded a milder contraction (-2.26%). On a yearly basis, the index was down 6.09% from February 2025.
