Turkey Tourist Arrivals Up 2.1% in August

The number of foreign visitors to Turkey rose by 2.1% year-on-year to 6.97 million in August 2025, marking the first increase after three consecutive months of decline.

Among the top five source countries, arrivals grew from Russia (+5.5%), Germany (+12.1%), and Poland (+1.2%), but fell from the UK (-4.4%) and Iran (-4.5%).

By destination, Antalya remained the most popular, accounting for 36.9% of all foreign visitors, followed by Istanbul (26.6%) and Mugla (9.5%).

For the January–August period, total foreign arrivals decreased by 0.9% from a year earlier to 35.48 million.

The number of foreign visitors to Turkey rose by 3.48% year-on-year to 2.25 million in January 2026, following a 4.99% increase in the previous month. Among the top five source countries, arrivals increased from Germany (+6.77%), Bulgaria (+3.56%), and North Cyprus (+9.30%), while declining from Iran (-6.42%) and Russia (-11.64%). By region, Europe accounted for the largest share of visitors at 38.19%, led by Germany, Bulgaria, and the UK. The Middle East contributed 10.66% of arrivals, with notable increases from Saudi Arabia (+37.71%) and Egypt (+22.35%), while Asia made up 26.34% of arrivals, with rises from China (+3.52%) and Pakistan (+39.20%). North and South America together represented 1.11% of total arrivals. Istanbul remained the most visited city, receiving 1.01 million visitors, followed by Edirne (171K) and Antalya (67K).

Turkey Tourist Arrivals Up 4.99% in December
The number of foreign visitors to Turkey increased by 4.99% year-on-year to 2.72 million in December 2025, following a 2.61% rise in the previous month. Among the top five source countries for the month, arrivals rose from Germany (3.93%), Bulgaria (10.71%), and Russia (9.48%), while declined from Iran (-0.26%) and Georgia (-2.91%). Istanbul remained the most popular destination, accounting for 54.98% of all foreign tourists, followed by Edirne (12.99%) and Antalya (9.49%). For the full year of 2025, total foreign arrivals rose by 0.28% to 52.78 million.

The number of foreign visitors to Turkey grew by 2.61% year-on-year to 2.80 million in November 2025, following a 4.32% increase in the previous month. Among the top five source countries, arrivals rose from Russia (13.05%) and Bulgaria (3.27%), while it fell from Germany (-1.13%), Iran (-6.22%), and the United Kingdom (-6.20%). By destination, Istanbul became the most popular over the month, accounting for 52.14% of all foreign tourists, followed by Antalya (14.74%) and Edirne (11.53%). Considering the January to November 2025 period, total foreign arrivals remained largely unchanged from a year earlier, reaching 50.06 million.
