Swedish Jobless Rate Rises to 8.3% in September

Sweden’s unemployment rate edged higher to 8.3% in September 2025 from 8.2% in the same month of the previous year.
The number of unemployed people increased by 8.1 thousand compared to a year earlier, totaling to 476 thousand, while employment climbed by 17.7 thousand to 5.238 million.
The employment rate remained unchanged at 68.6%, as well as the labor force participation rate at 74.8%.
The average total number of hours worked per week amounted to 174.9 million.
On a seasonally adjusted basis, the unemployment rate was 8.7%.
