Swedish Jobless Rate Rises to 8.4%

Sweden’s unemployment rate rose to 8.4% in August 2025 from 7.9% in the same month of the previous year.
The number of unemployed people increased by 33 thousand compared to a year earlier, totaling to 486 thousand, while employment went up by 29 thousand to 5.320 million.
The employment rate fell by 0.1 percentage points to 69.7% and the labor force participation rate grew by 0.5 percentage points to 76.1%.
The average total number of hours worked per week amounted to 130.6 million.
On a seasonally adjusted basis, the unemployment rate was 8.7%.
