Spain’s producer price inflation accelerated sharply to 13.2% year over year in August 2026, up from an upwardly revised 9.4% in July and marking the highest rate since December 2022.
The increase was driven mainly by a surge in energy prices, which rose 33.3% year over year, up from 21.2% in July, amid higher oil prices linked to the ongoing US-Iran conflict.
Producer price inflation also accelerated for intermediate goods (7.1% vs. 6.7%), durable consumer goods (3.6% vs. 3.5%) and capital goods (2.4% vs. 2.3%).
By contrast, inflation for non-durable consumer goods eased to 0.2% from 0.5%.
On a monthly basis, producer prices rose 2.9% in August, following a 3.1% increase in July.
