Slovenia Tourist Arrivals Rise 10.1% in May

Tourist arrivals in Slovenia increased by 1.9% year-on-year to nearly 810 thousand in June 2026, the highest level since August 2025, following a 10.1% rise in the previous month. Foreign tourist arrivals grew by 2.1% to 652.5 thousand, with visitors mainly coming from Czech Republic (14.3%), Poland (15.2%), and the UK (26.1%), while arrivals declined from Germany (-16.9%) and Austria (-9.1%). Domestic tourism rose by 1.1% to 157.5 thousand. Overnight stays went up by 1.5% to around 2 million, with most tourists staying in mountain resorts (5.1%), health resorts (1.7%), and the capital (0.9%). In the first half of the year, total tourist arrivals increased by 5.0% year-on-year to 2.941 million, while overnight stays rose by 5.7% to 7.285 million.

Tourist arrivals in Slovenia rose by 10.1% year-on-year to 680.1 thousand in May 2026, the highest level since September 2025, following a 0.2% increase in April. Foreign tourist arrivals climbed by 13.2% to 551.8 thousand, with visitors mainly coming from Germany (54.5%), Italy (15.5%), the US (26.8%), and the UK (32.9%), while arrivals from Austria fell by 0.4%. Meanwhile, domestic tourism declined by 1.4% to 128.3 thousand. Overnight stays increased by 10.8% to 1.590 million, with the highest numbers recorded in mountain resorts (26.0%), health resorts (2.6%), and seaside resorts (4.6%). For the first five months of the year, total arrivals grew by 6.3% from a year earlier to 2.131 million.

Tourist arrivals in Slovenia climbed by 0.2% year-on-year to nearly 491.2 thousand in April 2026, the lowest level in five months, easing sharply from the 9.7% increase recorded in March. Domestic tourism increased by 8.3% to 120.2 thousand, while foreign tourist arrivals declined by 2.2% to 371 thousand, driven mainly by declines in visitors from Italy (-21.8%), Austria (-8.5%) and Germany (-7.6%). Meanwhile, arrivals from Hungary increased 16.9%, while those from Croatia rose 4.3%. Overnight stays increased by 1.9% to 1,163 thousand, with the highest number of stays recorded for health resorts (1.5%) and mountain resorts (6%). For the first four months, total arrivals increased by 4.6% to 1,451 thousand, compared to the same period a year earlier.
