Among the newly unemployed, 26,187 were unemployed due to expiration of the fixed-term employment, 4,174 were seeking for a first job and 5,483 were jobless due to permanent redundancies and bankruptcies. In June, the jobless rate was lower at 7.9 percent.

Producer prices in Slovenia rose 2.5 percent year-on-year in August of 2018, following a 2.4 percent increase in the previous month. It was the highest producer inflation since November of 2017, as priced advanced further for manufacturing (2.5 percent from 2.3 percent in July), namely wood & products of wood and cork (1.6 percent from 1.7 percent); chemicals & chemicals products (2.1 percent from 3.2 percent) and textiles (1 percent from 1.5 percent). Also, cost increased faster for electricity, gas, steam & air conditioning supply (5.6 percent from 5 percent) while prices went up at a softer pace for mining & quarrying (3.2 percent from 4.8 percent). Meanwhile, cost continued to decline for water supply (-5.3 percent from -4.9 percent). On a monthly basis, producer prices went up 0.2 percent, the same as in July.

Slovenia GDP Annual Growth Rate at 3.80 percent  
The Slovenian economy expanded 3.8 percent year-on-year in the second quarter of 2018, below a downwardly revised 4.5 percent growth in the previous three month period. It was the weakest growth rate since last quarter of 2016, as output slowed sharply for household consumption (1.1 percent from 3.3 percent in Q1) and gross capital formation (2.9 percent from 14.6 percent), mainly due to a fall in inventories. Meanwhile, net trade accounted positively to growth as exports (9.3 percent from 8.7 percent) advanced faster than imports (8.3 percent from 10.5 percent). On a quarterly basis, gross domestic product grew 0.8 percent, following a downwardly revised 0.5 percent gain in the first quarter.
