Slovenia Tourist Arrivals Slow in April

Tourist arrivals in Slovenia climbed by 0.2% year-on-year to nearly 491.2 thousand in April 2026, the lowest level in five months, easing sharply from the 9.7% increase recorded in March.

Domestic tourism increased by 8.3% to 120.2 thousand, while foreign tourist arrivals declined by 2.2% to 371 thousand, driven mainly by declines in visitors from Italy (-21.8%), Austria (-8.5%) and Germany (-7.6%).

Meanwhile, arrivals from Hungary increased 16.9%, while those from Croatia rose 4.3%.

Overnight stays increased by 1.9% to 1,163 thousand, with the highest number of stays recorded for health resorts (1.5%) and mountain resorts (6%).

For the first four months, total arrivals increased by 4.6% to 1,451 thousand, compared to the same period a year earlier.

Tourist arrivals in Slovenia climbed by 9.7% year-on-year to nearly 335 thousand in March 2026, following a 3.3% increase in February. The number of foreign tourists jumped by 13.5% to 221.7 thousand, while domestic arrivals rose by 3.0% to 113.3 thousand. Most foreign visitors came from Austria (26.0%), Croatia (13.7%), Germany (33.4%), and Serbia (5.4%). Overnight stays grew by 8.3% to 832.4 thousand, with the highest number of stays recorded in health (spa) resorts (2.7%), mountain resorts (8.5%), seaside resorts (6.8%), and the capital (16.9%). In the first quarter of the year, total arrivals reached 959.9 thousand, up 7.0% compared with the same period last year.

Slovenia Tourist Arrivals Rise 3.3% in February
Tourist arrivals in Slovenia increased by 3.3% year-on-year to 307.6 thousand in February 2026, following a 7.9% rise in January. The number of foreign tourists grew by 3.6% to 184.9 thousand, while domestic arrivals rose by 2.7% to 122.6 thousand. Most foreign visitors came from Italy (14.5%), Serbia (31.2%), and Hungary (19.6%). Overnight stays increased by 4.3% from a year earlier to 829.1 thousand, with the highest number of stays recorded in health (spa) resorts (2.0%), mountain resorts (7.3%), and the capital (11.0%). In the first two months of 2026, total arrivals rose by 5.6% to 624.9 thousand.
