Slovenia Inflation Rate Slows in July

The annual inflation rate in Slovakia slowed to 2.9% in July 2026, easing to the lowest level since March, down from 3.6% in the previous month, reflecting softer price pressures for both goods (2.0% vs 2.9%) and services (4.6% vs 5.0%). Food prices fell 0.4% after rising 0.5% in June, while inflation eased for housing and utilities (4.7% vs 4.9%), transport (2.6% vs 4.7%), healthcare (2.1% vs 5.1%), information and communication (2.8% vs 3.0%), and education services (3.1% vs 3.2%). Restaurant and hotel prices rose at an unchanged pace of 2.7%. Meanwhile, inflation accelerated for recreation, sports and culture (6.3% vs 4.8%), clothing and footwear (0.9% vs 0.0%), furnishings and household equipment (1.3% vs 0.6%), and insurance and financial services (2.5% vs 2.2%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices fell 0.1% in July, the first monthly decline since January, following a 0.9% increase in June. Harmonised inflation slowed to 3% in July from 3.7% in the prior month.

Slovakia's annual inflation rate stood at 3.6% in June 2026, unchanged from the previous month. While inflation remained at its highest level since March 2024, price pressures eased for food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.5% vs 0.9% in May), housing and utilities (9.9% vs 10.0%), transport (4.7% vs 5.5%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (4.9% vs 5.2%), furnishings, household equipment and routine household maintenance (0.6% vs 1.9%), and personal care, social protection and miscellaneous goods and services (0.9% vs 3.8%). In contrast, prices increased at a faster pace for health (5.1% vs 4.8%), information and communication (3.0% vs 2.5%), recreation, sport and culture (4.8% vs 2.1%), education (3.2% vs 2.7%), restaurants and accommodation services (2.7% vs 2.2%), and insurance and financial services (2.2% vs 2.0%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose to 0.8%, from 0.5% in May. Meanwhile, the harmonized inflation rate edged down to 3.7% in June from 3.8% in the previous month.

Slovenia's annual inflation rate accelerate to 3.6% in May 2026, marking the highest level since March 2024, up from 3.1% in April. The increase was driven primarily by stronger price pressures in housing and utilities, where inflation rose to 10.0% from 9.7%, and transport, which accelerated to 5.5% from 4.6%. Additional upward pressure came from receation and culture (2.1% vs 1.1%), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (5.2% vs 4.3%), furnishings (1.9% vs 1.5%) and communications (2.5% vs 2.2%). Meanwhile, prices for clothing and footwear nearly stabilized, falling just 0.1% after a 2.9% decline in April. In contrast, inflation eased for food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.9% vs. 1.0%), health services (4.8% vs. 5.3%) and restaurants and hotels (2.2% vs 2.6%). On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 0.5% in May, slowing sharply from a 1.9% rise, largely due to lower prices for liquid fuels (-5.5%) and diesel (-4.5%). Harmonized inflation rose to 3.8% in May, up from 3.4% in April.
