Slovakia’s current account deficit narrowed to EUR 166 million in March 2026 from EUR 340.7 million in the same month a year earlier.
It marked the smallest gap since October 2025, mainly driven by a sharp increase in the goods account surplus, which rose to EUR 285.3 million from EUR 26.5 million a year earlier.
Meanwhile, the services account surplus fell to EUR 14.4 million from EUR 26.4 million in March 2025.
At the same time, the primary income deficit widened to EUR 335.7 million from EUR 330 million, while the secondary income shortfall more than doubled to EUR 130 million from EUR 63.6 million.
For the first quarter of 2026, the country’s total current account deficit reached EUR 1,154 million.
