Slovakia’s consumer confidence indicator dropped to -28.3 in May 2026 from -27.4 in the previous month.
This marked the lowest reading since March 2023, signaling a weaker household sentiment.
The overall drop was driven by households more pessimistic view for savings (-19.3 vs -14.1 in April) and rising concerns about current financial conditions (-13.4 vs -12.5).
Meanwhile, consumers were slightly less negative in their assessment of the general economic outlook (-44.0 vs -45.9), suggesting some resilience despite the broader decline in confidence.
Concerns over future unemployment also eased marginally (36.6 vs 37.1).
Among other indicators, concerns about their past financial situation continued to deteriorate (-17.2 vs -15.5).
