Slovakia’s consumer confidence indicator dropped to -28.2 in March 2026 from -25.0 in the previous month.
This marked the lowest reading since March 2023, placing it 8.3 points below the long-term average signaling a deterioration in household sentiment.
The overall drop was driven by households more pessimistic view of the general economic outlook (-45.7 vs -38.2 in February) and expressed heightened concern over future unemployment (38.8 vs 33.3) signaling increased anxiety about economic conditions and job security.
Meanwhile, consumers were slightly less negative in their assessment of their household financial situation, including both their current finances (-12.0 vs -12.3) and expectations for savings (-16.1 vs -16.2), suggesting some resilience despite the broader decline in confidence.
