Romanian Jobless Rate at 4-Month Low

Romania’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate edged lower to 6% in January 2026, from an upwardly revised 6.1% in December.
This represents the lowest level since September 2025, as the number of unemployed decreased by 8 thousand month-on-month to 490.5 thousand.
By gender, the unemployment rate for men remained stable at 6%, while for women it decreased to 5.9% from 6.2% in December.
Among individuals aged 25–74, the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate edged down to 4.5% in January from 4.7% in the previous month.
In January 2025, the overall unemployment rate stood at 6%.
