Romanian Jobless Rate Ticks Up in November

Romania’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate edged up to 6% in November from 5.9% in the previous month.

The number of unemployed persons increased by 6.4 thousand from a month earlier to 493.7 thousand.

The jobless rates for men rose by 6.1% from 6% in October, while that for women grew by 5.9% from 5.8%.

In November 2024, the jobless rate was lower at 5.6%.

By gender, the jobless rates for men edged down to 5.9% from 6.1% in November, while that for women increased to 6.1% from 5.9%. In December 2024, the jobless rate was lower at 5.7%.

Romania’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate fell to 5.9% in October 2025, from a revised 6.1% in each of the previous two months. This was the lowest jobless rate since January, as the number of unemployed persons decreased by 10.1 thousand from a month earlier to 487.3 thousand. The jobless rates for men dropped to 6.0% from 6.3% in September, while that for women remained unchanged at 5.8%. The youth unemployment rate, measuring job-seekers between 15 and 24 years old, inched down to 4.6% from 4.7% in the prior month.
