Romanian Industrial Output Growth Steady in October

Industrial production in Romania rose by 0.2% year-on-year in October 2025, the same pace as in the previous month.

Output accelerated in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (6% vs 0.1% in September), mainly in capital goods, consumer durables, and energy.

On the other hand, mining and quarrying declined at a faster pace (-4.2% vs -1.2%), driven by lower output of coal and lignite, crude petroleum and natural gas, and other mining and quarrying.

Additionally, manufacturing production fell by 0.3%, reversing a 0.5% increase in September, as activity decreased in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products, chemical products, basic metals, and electrical equipment.

On a monthly basis, industrial output increased by 0.4% in October, slowing from a 1.1% advance in the preceding period.

Industrial production in Romania fell 0.5% year-on-year in November 2025, following an upwardly revised 0.3% rise in the previous month. Output declined further in manufacturing (-1.0% vs -0.3% in October), as activity decreased in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products, printing and reproduction of recorded media, other non-metallic mineral products, chemical products, basic metals, and electrical equipment. Additionally, production in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply moderated (1.4% vs 6.0%). On the other hand, mining and quarrying rebounded, rising 0.3% after a 4.1% drop in the previous month, driven by increased output of metal ores and slower decline in crude petroleum and natural gas and other mining and quarrying. On a monthly basis, industrial output decreased 0.7% in November, reversing an upwardly revised 0.5% rise in the preceding period.

Romanian Industrial Output Recovers in September
Industrial production in Romania rose by 0.2% year-on-year in September 2025, rebounding from a 0.9% decline in the previous month. Output in the manufacturing sector recovered, increasing by 0.5% after a 1.6% drop in August. At the same time, activity fell at a softer pace in mining and quarrying (-1.1% vs -2.6%). Meanwhile, output in electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply was unchanged, following a 2.1% rise in the previous month. On a monthly basis, industrial output rebounded by 1.1% in September, marking the first increase in four months, following a 1.9% decline in the preceding period.
