Portugal Retail Sales Growth Hits Three-Month High

Portugal’s retail sales growth accelerated to 3.0% year-on-year in July 2026, the strongest pace in three months and up from a revised 2.7% in June.
The rise was broad-based, led by food, beverages, and tobacco (2.5% vs. 1.3% in June) and non-food items (3.3% vs. 3.7%), including computers, telecom equipment, books, and other products (1.4% vs. 3.1%), textiles, clothing, footwear, and leather goods (4.5% vs. 7.1%), and household goods (8.2% vs. 7.6%).
On a monthly basis, retail sales were flat, after a downwardly revised 1.4% increase in June.
