The consumer confidence index in Portugal fell to -23.9 in April of 2026 from -18.7 in the previous month, reflecting the largest magnitude of pessimism in over two years.
The index measuring the evolution of prices rose to 57.2 from 50.6 and the index measuring household's financial situation fell to -12.7 from -9.1, both consistent with the jump in energy prices amid the outbreak of war in the Middle East.
Consistently, expectations on the country's economic situation over the next year worsened to -42.2 from -32.2, while that for households' financial situation dropped to -10.8 from -5.
