Portugal Consumer Confidence at 2024-Lows

The consumer confidence index in Portugal fell to -27.1 in May 2026, down from -23.9 in April, marking the lowest level since January 2024.
The deterioration in sentiment was broad-based regarding the last 12 months, the index measuring the increase in prices rose to 63.2 from 57.2 last month, while household sentiment weakened to -15.5 from -12.7 and views on the country’s economic situation declined to -50.7 from -43.8.
Looking ahead, expectations for countrie’s economy also deteriorated to -48.5 from -42.2, amid rising concerns over prices (66.4 vs 61.1) and unemployment (27.7 vs 25.3).
In contrast, uncertainty regarding future household financial conditions improved slightly to -18.1 from -20.8.
