Poland Retail Sales Growth Rises in December

Retail sales in Poland grew 5.3% year-on-year in December 2025, picking up from 3.1% in the previous month, but slightly below market forecasts of a 5.5% rise.
Sales rebounded in food, beverages, and tobacco products (1.9% vs -2.9% in November) and in newspapers, books, other sales in specialized stores (1.4% vs -5.2%).
At the same time, sales increased at a faster pace in motor vehicles, motorcycles, and parts (13.1% vs 12.9%), solid, liquid and gaseous fuels (8.3% vs 5.9%), furniture, radio, TV, and household appliances (19.8% vs 16.6%), pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and orthopedic equipment (8.4% vs 2.1%), and other products (8.6% vs 0.9%).
Meanwhile, sales moderated for textiles, clothing and footwear (6.0% vs 12.2%).
On a monthly basis, retail sales surged 12.5% in December, reversing a 3.3% decline in the previous month.
