Poland Employment Falls as Expected

Poland’s corporate employment fell by 0.8% year-on-year to 6.368 million in August 2026, matching market expectations and the pace of decline recorded in July. This was the 35th consecutive month of decline in employment, underscoring continued weakness in corporate hiring. On a monthly basis, employment edged down by 0.2%. In the first eight months of the year, average paid employment dropped by 1.0% to 6.384 million.

Poland’s corporate employment decreased by 0.8% year-on-year in July 2026 to 6.38 million, following a 0.9% decline in June. The reading extended the current sequence of declines in corporate employment to more than two and a half years. On a monthly basis, employment increased by 0.1%. In the first seven months of the year, average paid employment fell by 1.0%.

This was the 33rd consecutive month of decline in corporate employment, highlighting continued weakness in corporate hiring conditions. On a monthly basis, employment was unchanged. For the first half of the year, average paid employment fell by 1.1%. Meanwhile, average monthly gross wage rose by 5.9% from a year earlier to PLN 9,401.58 in June.
