Poland Employment Continues to Fall

Poland’s corporate employment decreased by 0.9% year-on-year in June 2026 to 6.38 million, matching market forecasts and the pace of decline recorded in the previous three months.

This was the 33rd consecutive month of decline in corporate employment, highlighting continued weakness in corporate hiring conditions.

On a monthly basis, employment was unchanged.

For the first half of the year, average paid employment fell by 1.1%.

Meanwhile, average monthly gross wage rose by 5.9% from a year earlier to PLN 9,401.58 in June.

Poland’s corporate employment fell by 0.9% year-on-year in May 2026, bringing total employment to 6.38 million, in line with market expectations and unchanged from the previous month. This marked the 32nd consecutive month of decline in corporate employment. On a monthly basis, employment remained at a 0.1% fall in April due to the absence or reduced scale of additional payments that had been made in the previous month. Meanwhile, average monthly gross salaries increased by 5.8% compared to a year earlier, reaching PLN 9,173.
