Poland Employment Declines as Expected

Poland’s corporate employment fell by 0.8% year-on-year in February 2026, bringing total employment to 6.39 million, in line with market expectations and unchanged from the previous month. This marked the 29th consecutive month of decline in corporate employment, driven by job losses in the mining and quarrying sector (-3.6% vs. -3.4%) and construction (-0.2% vs. -0.1%). On a monthly basis, employment was unchanged, following a 0.2% decline in January. Meanwhile, average monthly gross salaries rose by 6.1% compared to a year earlier, reaching PLN 9,135.7.

On a monthly basis, employment fell by 0.2%, following a 0.1% decline in December. Meanwhile, average monthly gross salaries rose by 6.1% compared to a year earlier, reaching PLN 9,002.

Corporate employment in Poland fell 0.7% year-on-year in December 2025, bringing total employment to 6.41 million, in line with market expectations and slightly improving from a 0.8% drop in each of the previous four months. This marked the 27th consecutive month of decline in corporate employment, though at a softer pace. On a monthly basis, employment declined 0.1%, reversing a 0.1% rise in the previous month. Meanwhile, average monthly gross salaries rose 8.6% from a year earlier, reaching PLN 9,583.
