Poland’s trade deficit widened sharply to €3.05 billion in August 2026 from €2.16 billion in the same month a year earlier.
It is the second highest trade gap since a record deficit in February 2022.
Imports rose 15.4% year-on-year to €31.60 billion, driven mainly by higher purchases of computer hardware, parts and components, and integrated circuits, while higher fuel prices boosted purchases of crude oil and petroleum products.
Imports of aircraft engines and consumer durables also increased.
Meanwhile, exports rose at a slower 13.2% to €28.56 billion, supported by stronger shipments of computer hardware, aircraft engines, petroleum products and raw silver.
However, sales from the automotive industry declined, and furniture sales fell again.
