Norway Retail Sales Slip in December

Retail sales in Norway fell by 0.7% month-on-month in December 2025, reversing a downwardly revised ten-month high gain of 1.2% in the previous month.
Sales declined for non-specialized stores (-0.5% vs 0.4% in November), food and beverages (-1.4% vs 0.3%), ICT equipment (-3.7% vs 1.7%), other household equipment (-3.2% vs 5.3%), and cultural/recreation goods (-2% vs 0.2%).
Moreover, trade continued to fall for automotive fuel (-3.2% vs -0.3%).
On the other hand, sales for other goods rose 0.4% after stalling in November.
On a yearly basis, retail activity rose 3.2% in December 2025, slowing from a downwardly revised 5.1% increase and marking its weakest growth since May.
