Norway House Prices Rise 0.8% MoM in August

House prices in Norway rose 0.8% month-on-month in August 2026, reversing a 1.0% decline in the previous month. Residential sales totaled 9,594 units, 5% less than a year earlier, while 13,077 homes were listed for sale, down 5.4% year-on-year. The average selling time decreased to 50 days from 62 days in July, with homes selling fastest in Bergen (16 days) and slowest in Fredrikstad/Sarpsborg (90 days). Regionally, Tønsberg w/Færder recorded the strongest monthly price growth at 2.7%. In contrast, Drammen and the surrounding area recorded the weakest price development, declining by 1.2%. On an annual basis, house prices rose 2.6%, up from a two-year low of 2.2% in July. For the January–August 2026 period, prices were 4.9% higher than in the corresponding period of 2025.

On an annual basis, house prices rose 2.2%, easing from 3.8% in June and marking the slowest annual increase since June 2024. For the January–July period, prices were 2.8% higher than in the corresponding period of 2025.

Residential sales totaled 11,757 units, 2% fewer than in the same month last year, while 12,028 homes were listed for sale, up 4% from June 2025. The average time to sell a home was 40 days in June, down from 42 days in May, with homes selling fastest in Bergen and Stavanger at 13 and 16 days, respectively. Meanwhile, Fredrikstad/Sarpsborg recorded the longest selling time at 93 days. Regionally, Porsgrunn/Skien posted the strongest monthly house price growth at 2.6%, followed by Bodø and Fauske with a 1.8% increase. In contrast, Fredrikstad/Sarpsborg recorded the weakest performance, with prices falling 0.9%. On a yearly basis, house prices rose 3.9% in June, the highest increase since January. For the January–June period, prices were 5.5% higher than in the corresponding period a year earlier.
