Montenegro Tourist Arrivals Rise 4.4% in July

The number of tourist arrivals in Montenegro rose by 4.4% year-on-year to an eleven-month high of 244,754 in July 2026, easing from a 5.8% increase in June. Foreign visitors remained the primary source of arrivals, accounting for 92.3% of the total, or 225,824 arrivals, while domestic arrivals represented 7.7%, or 18,930. Among foreign tourists, Europe continued to be the largest source region, accounting for 81.3% of arrivals, led by Serbia Bosnia and Herzegovina, the United Kingdom, Russia, and Poland. Outside Europe, which accounted for 18.7% of arrivals, the largest shares came from Israel, the United States, and China, including Hong Kong. By type of accommodation, seaside resorts remained the most popular, accounting for 82.1% of arrivals, followed by the capital (9.4%), mountain resorts (5.3%), and other resorts (3.2%). Meanwhile, overnight stays in collective accommodation totaled 1,081,249, with foreign visitors accounting for 91.6% and domestic visitors for 8.4%.

The number of tourist arrivals in Montenegro rose by 5.8% year-on-year to a ten-month high of 206,990 in June 2026, accelerating from 0.3% in the previous month. Foreign visitors remained the primary source of arrivals, accounting for 91.4% of the total, or 189,266 arrivals, while domestic arrivals represented 8.6%, or 17,724. Among foreign tourists, Europe continued to be the largest source region, contributing 78.8% of arrivals, led by Serbia, the United Kingdom, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Poland. Outside Europe, the largest numbers of arrivals were recorded from Israel, the United States, and China (including Hong Kong). By type of accommodation, seaside resorts remained the most popular area, accounting for 81.9% of arrivals, followed by the capital region (10.3%) and mountain resorts (4.7%). Meanwhile, overnight stays in collective accommodation totaled 793,956, with foreign visitors accounting for 90.8% of stays and domestic tourists accounting for the remaining 9.2%.

The number of tourist arrivals in Montenegro rose by 0.3% year-on-year to 169,877 in May 2026, rebounding from an 8.4% decline in the previous month. Foreign visitors remained the primary source of arrivals, accounting for 87.4% of the total, or 148,388 arrivals, while domestic arrivals represented 12.6%, or 21,489. Among foreign tourists, Europe continued to be the largest source region, contributing 78.8% of arrivals, led by Serbia, Germany, and France. Outside Europe, the highest numbers of arrivals came from Israel, the United States, and China (including Hong Kong). By type of accommodation, seaside resorts remained the most popular destination, accounting for 79.5% of arrivals, followed by the capital region (12.4%) and mountain resorts (4.8%). Meanwhile, overnight stays in collective accommodation totaled 506,256, with foreign visitors accounting for 86.3% of stays and domestic tourists making up the remaining 13.7%.
